Cyber crime fighters will soon be setting up shop at SFU Surrey to develop tools that will help police hunt down Internet con artists, hackers and child pornographers.
The Surrey campus will be the home of the International Cybercrime Research Centre, a joint venture of SFU, the provincial government and the International Society for the Policing of Cyberspace.
The centre will conduct research into online economic crime, the privacy implications of social networking sites like Facebook and the distribution of child pornography. In addition to studying current Internet crime, researchers will also examine emerging trends
