BANGALORE, India: A BPO staffer had who created a fake profile of a minor girl on the internet and posted pornographic material has been arrested by the Karnataka Cyber Crime Cell.
The accused, identified as 22-year-old Prince John, was picked up on Thursday from Ernakulam in Kerala after a nine-month-long pursuit. John had come under the scanner of the Corp of Detectives following a complaint lodged by the girl's mother in May 2007.
According to the police, John was staying in a paying guest accommodation near the girl's residence and had befriended her family. Subsequently, he made advances to the girl. When the family learnt about his behaviour they warned him.
However, John continued with his wayward ways. He threatened to open a website in the girl's name and publish obscene material if her family did not consider his marriage proposal.
