To include law enforcement officials, IT professionals - Kamal Narang
The Ministry of Home Affairs will shortly set up a committee to develop a comprehensive action plan to deal with possible threats arising out of cyber crime.
According to Mr Shriprakash Jaiswal, Minister of State for Home Affairs, the committee would be set up under private-public partnership (PPP) model.
“It will include officials from law enforcing agencies and professionals from IT industry to visualise threats from cyber crime and suggest necessary remedies to the Government,” he added.
The Minister was speaking at a conference organised by Assocham in the Capital on Monday.
Mr Jaiswal also said that the panel would recommend other ways to the Government to curtail the effects of cyber crime within a timeframe, so that cyber crime is effectively dealt with and culprits apprehended without any delay.
According to the Minister, the Parliamentary standing committee concerned has informed the Home Affairs Ministry that it has cleared the new cyber crime Bill.
He added that the Ministry of Home Affairs would curb lurking threats on national security by all means, as computer technology would ultimately become a facilitator for India’s growth rather than affecting it adversely.
“The CBI and various State police organisations have also set up cyber crime cells and computer forensic facilities. All laboratories of the Directorate of Forensic Sciences and Government examiners of ‘Questioned Documents’ have computer forensic facilities.
