Govt to strengthen IT Act to tackle cyber crime

NEW DELHI, India: The government would strengthen the Information Act (IT) to deal with cyber crime such as data theft and transmission of pictures, Minister of State for IT and Communications Shakeel Ahmad said on Thursday.

The department would accommodate most of the recommendations made by the Standing Committee on IT, Ahmad said while speaking at the ELITEX event. He said the government has also allocated Rs 25,000 crore, spread over five years, for the e-governance project.
