In order to get more people to tune into his classic rock and country music broadcasts, Phil Henry turned to the Internet six years ago.

Henry operates EGRN Mountain Community Radio and TV Networks out of his RV parked near Evergreen, Colo., and has listeners worldwide.

Come July 15, anyone outside the range of Henry's low-grade FM antenna might not be able to hear him. That's when royalty fees for songs played by online stations are set to increase, leaving Internet broadcasters with bills that could knock them off the air.

Internet radio has exploded in recent years, driven by the easy availability of high-speed Internet connections.

Because of changes proposed by the U.S. Copyright Royalty Board, the royalty fees for each song played over the Internet may go up to .019 cent, per song, per listener by 2010. The rule would be retroactive to 2006, meaning that Internet broadcasters would have to pay back fees for all songs on July 15.
