"I am a software professional and know everything about computer and internet. I do not need to know about Phishing. I am secure". Wrong !!!
It does not matter whether you are an computer professional or just a casual internet surfer. You always have to be extra cautious when you are online. Phishing techniques nowadays are not just limited to sending an email and luring you into giving in your online bank account and password. But, other complex techniques are being used nowadays, which are hard to detect or even be suspicious of. Phishers are people who are technically advanced and very innovative. The phishing attacks that gets carried out are highly professional and target multiple users at the same time, so that the phishers can make maximum benefit before his activity gets detected. As financial organisations have increased their online presence, the economic value of compromising account information has also increased dramatically.

Phishing techniques includes :-
1) Deceptive email attacks, in which users are tricked by sending fraudulent messages and lured into giving out sensitive information
2) Malware attacks, in which malicious software get downloaded onto the user's system and causes data theft
3) DNS-based attacks (also known as pharming), in which the host names look-up is changed to redirect users to a fraudulent computer.
